ORGANIZATION: PCOS Challenge: The National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association

2020 PCOS 5K
PCOS Challenge: The National PCOS Association

The Charlotte PCOS Challenge 5K Run/Walk is part of the country's largest national campaign raising awareness and funds to help fight polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

PCOS affects up to 15% of women in the U.S. and hundreds of millions globally. It is one of the most critical, under-diagnosed, underfunded and neglected areas of health, which can lead to lifelong complications, infertility, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other life-threatening conditions.. By supporting the PCOS Challenge 5K Run Walk, you will become a champion for one of the most important issues affecting women’s health. Your support will make a huge difference in the lives of tens-of-thousands of women as proceeds from the PCOS Challenge race will go toward PCOS education and support programs, research, health screenings, grants, as well as increasing awareness and public support for those with the disorder.

The organization is seeking 15 volunteers to help with the event. Duties may include:

  • Assisting with event setup and breakdown
  • Directing participants to the registration and race start areas
  • Checking in attendees
  • Handing out race packs, bibs and T-shirts
  • Timekeeping
  • Handing out refreshments
  • Assisting PCOS Challenge staff with day-of logistics and award ceremony

Hydration and light snacks are provided for volunteers on event day.

Fundraising

We also have a need for assistance with fundraising for the PCOS Challenge 5K Run/Walk. We have a number of helpful tools, resources, scripts and incentives for fundraisers on the pcos5k.org website that make fundraising easy and fun!
