River Keepers

Join River Keepers staff and collect samples from the Wild Rice and Red River. Samples are collected twice a month from April to October on Monday or Tuesday mornings. Samples are sent to North Dakota Environmental Quality for analysis. Data is posted online at River.Watch

The purpose of this program is to increase data available for the Red River in the F/M area, communicate the health of the Red River, and to provide data for trend analysis.

No prior experience is needed.

Volunteers are needed for the following tentative days. If the week works with your schedule but not the day of the week, please let staff know as we may be able to switch the day. Shifts go from 8:00 am - 11:00 a.m. or 9:00 - noon.

River Keepers is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization advocating safe and sustainable use of the Red River of the North through workshops, youth service-learning projects and advocacy. We work "hand-in hand" with civic, corporate and political leaders, local watershed groups and the public at-large. River Keepers grew from a desire to rediscover the Red River’s heritage, and to teach people to again appreciate the Red as a living River.
