Do you have small business insurance experience and want to use your expertise to help under-resourced entrepreneurs build and sustain their thriving businesses?
Our Market Access Program pairs entrepreneurs with pro bono marketing and business experts like you for mentoring opportunities that address key business challenges.
We are seeking small business insurance broker volunteers to provide guidance and educate our entrepreneurs on why it's important to have business insurance, the different types of business insurance available, how to assess what's right for their business and other relevant considerations. We do not allow volunteers to solicit from our entrepreneurs. However, sometimes our entrepreneurs build business relationships with our volunteers and may continue working together beyond our sessions.
We offer two types of volunteer opportunities:
- One Day Engagement (known as Consultations)
Coordinate a "Volunteer Day" where we book a group of entrepreneurs according to a schedule that you select in advance. These are coordinated either in person for a given amount of time or through a themed phone-a-ton where we arrange a day for one-hour consultations. Consultations are intended to help move the conversation and give entrepreneurs concrete information to move forward with.
Time Commitment: These can range from 1 hour to a full 8 hour day, depending on your availability. Ideal candidates will be able to take on a few consultation days throughout the year. - Teaching a workshop or bootcamp
Connect with a larger group of entrepreneurs to help them understand the basics of business insurance. We will work with volunteers to develop appropriate material to present (via webinar and/or on-site).
Time Commitment: These sessions are typically 60-90 minutes longs (can be flexible) with a few hours of prep (content creation) leading up to the event.
Next Steps: If you are interested in this opportunity and would like more information, please submit a volunteer interest form at bit.ly/startsmallthinkbig and select Market Access / Marketing Program. We will be in touch with you to schedule an orientation call.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email marketing@startsmallthinkbig.org
We look forward to working with you!

Mission Statement
Start Small Think Big is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in entrepreneurship by connecting small businesses with the resources and community they need to thrive. - We stand for access and opportunity and get behind the belief that with a skilled partner, entrepreneurs and their businesses can thrive personally and professionally. - We create powerful connections with entrepreneurs and legal, financial, and marketing experts that provide assistance while building meaningful collaborations.
Description
We focus on partnering with BIPOC entrepreneurs, women, LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, immigrants, veterans, entrepreneurs with disabilities, low-income entrepreneurs, and formerly incarcerated entrepreneurs. We help identify entrepreneurs’ areas of need and provide them with free technical assistance across the finance, marketing and legal areas. We do this by connecting them with our community of corporate partners and skills-based volunteers - so small businesses have the network and resources they need to grow on their own terms.
