Visitors come to Lexington to walk in the footsteps of the Lexington militiamen and patriot leaders like John Hancock, Sam Adams, and George Washington. We need you there to give them a warm welcome!
The Lexington Historical Society is seeking volunteer historic house greeters for the Hancock-Clarke House (destination of Paul Revere on his famous midnight ride) and Munroe Tavern (temporary field hospital of the Redcoats during their retreat to Boston) in support of our mission to be a premier interpreter of the events of April 1775. **We are currently looking for volunteers with availability in September and October.**
In addition to representing the Society to visitors, the greeter will be responsible for:
- taking and selling admission tickets through an iPad point-of-sale system
- answering basic questions
- assisting guide staff with starting tours

Mission Statement
The Society’s Mission The mission of the Lexington Historical Society is to be a premier interpreter of the events of April 1775, presented through our three historic sites - the Hancock-Clarke House, Buckman Tavern, and Munroe Tavern. We serve as faithful steward of all of the town’s history through time, managing an in-depth repository of Lexington documents, maps, artistic renderings and photographs from the Town’s founding in 1713 to the present time. We offer year-round history programming for all ages at our historic sites and our Lexington Depot headquarters, including curriculum-based programs on Colonial life and the American Revolution for school groups at all levels.
Description
The Lexington Historical Society, founded in 1886, provides public tours of Lexington’s historic sites that played important roles in the Battle of Lexington: the Hancock-Clarke House, Paul Revere’s destination; Buckman Tavern, the gathering place of the Lexington militia; and Munroe Tavern, British field office and hospital on April 19, 1775. The Society provides year-round history programming for all ages. The Society has an extensive archives of Lexington history through the years, as well as rich collections of objects spanning the years from the Town’s incorporation in 1713 to the present.
