The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Logo

For the past 4 years, the San Diego Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has organized a fundraising competition called Students of the Year. Community leaders from many different high schools are nominated as candidates for Students of the Year, and those candidates raise as much money as they can over a seven-week period each winter. At the end of the seven weeks, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society hosts a high-end gala to announce the winners and celebrate the candidates. In 2018 & 2019, the Students of the Year program raised a combined total of $560,000 to fund services for blood cancer patients and their families, as well as fund research and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

We are looking for volunteers to help with set up and tear down of the 5th annual San Diego Students of the Year Gala on Saturday, March 7th, as well as other event help. Event help includes registration, auction help and paddle raise spotters. Multiple time frames are available. Thanks so much!

Mission Statement

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.

Description

Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.

LLS volunteers make a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's San Diego/Hawaii Chapter serves residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
