Moreno Valley Public Library

  • 16 people are interested

The Moreno Valley Public Library’s Adult Literacy Program is seeking tech-savvy volunteers 18+ who are interested in helping adults develop and strengthen English reading, and writing skills.

As a volunteer, you will be assigned to candidates who lack the ability to read, and write English at any level. And your job as a volunteer will be to meet with the selected candidates on a weekly basis, set personal goals, and assist in ensuring that the candidate is able to achieve these personal goals; with the understanding that your service will develop the candidate’s overall understanding of reading, and writing English.

Selected volunteers must commit to at least three months of service, and agree to come in at least once a week for one hour. Meetings between volunteers and candidates will be conducted online or over the phone. All materials and training will be provided to the volunteers by the Library. There is no test conducted, however successful completion of orientation, training and annual meetings with staff is required.

All volunteers over the age of 18 must pass a background check with the City of Moreno Valley.
