We need volunteers for all aspects of our program :
Office duties, fundraising/special projects,
meal/supply couriers, and ESPECIALLY direct patient care.
Our direct patient care volunteers can visit patients in their homes, nursing facility, or even assisted living facility. We have volunteers who take 2 hour shifts in our hospice home, visiting with patients, doing laundry, and pushing our hospitality cart.
We are also looking for volunteers with exceptional phone skills to make weekly check in calls, and monthly bereavement calls.
We even have direct pet care volunteers now for those who are animal lovers. Our patients need help feeding and walking their pets!

Description
Providing quality end-of-life care since 1987, Hospice of Rockingham County is a community-based nonprofit hospice care provider - and the only full-service hospice based in Rockingham County. The majority of patients that we care for live in Rockingham County but HRC also serves patients in Caswell, Guilford, and Stokes counties. With over 300 years’ collective experience in the hospice field, our staff is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in providing end-of-life care. We are Medicare/Medicaid certified, and licensed by the state of North Carolina to deliver hospice services. As added quality assurance, we choose to be accredited by ACHC (Accreditation Commission for Health Care), and were once again awarded deemed status after our 2021 survey. Hospice supports life and exists to help those with life-limiting illnesses live as comfortably and fully as possible. Services may be delivered in patients’ homes, assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities, and in our 8-bed inpatient facility.

- You can give as little as two hours or as much as you want. Whether that is weekends or evenings only, or the same day/time every week. We will work around your schedule!
- All volunteers are required to complete an application, interview/orientation, background check, drug screen, and reference check. Patient care volunteers must also complete an online training, and 1 step TB test.
