Operations Manager (Food Recovery Organization)
CELESTIAL MANNA INC
At present, the Executive Director is overseeing all 25 Group Coordinators. Firstly, this is too wide a span of control. Group Coordinators need somebody besides the Founder, CEO, and Executive Director to call if there is a question. Secondly, many times questions can be answered or situations resolved at the Operations level. The Executive Director should not be contacted except under extreme circumstances.
Several Operations Managers are needed to oversee 4-6 Group Coordinators each to ensure that Volunteer Drivers and Group Coordinators are held accountable for timely pick-up of rescued food and delivery of that food to those in need. Celestial Manna has a robust database but if pick-ups and deliveries are not properly reported, estimates rather than hard numbers must be made based on averages.
The main responsibility of an Operations Manager is to monitor the stream of data reported by the Volunteer Drivers and to report unusual findings to the Executive Director and the appropriate Group Coordinator.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

Celestial Manna feeds the hungry by providing them with free food that is locally donated. We give monthly support to more than 10,000 people in the Washington, DC metropolitan region stretching from north of Baltimore through Prince George's and Montgomery Counties Maryland, and south to northern Virginia.
Celestial Manna tries to help people from all walks of life; these individuals range from blue-collar workers, low-income families, single-parent households and diverse ethnicities. Hunger is not the only challenge these people face. In addition to a network of food redistribution, Celestial Manna provides support to people in need of clothing.
