Orlando Cares

The South Street Farm is located in the Parramore community. This farm is managed by Infinite Zion Farms. The South Street Farm is the primary supplier of produce for the Community Supported Agriculture Project (CSA) as the Parramore Pop-up Produce Market. The volunteers would be assisting with sowing seeds, weeding established plots, and harvesting plants. This group farms every Saturday from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM. Volunteers do not have to come for the entire time.

Volunteers are encouraged to:

  • Eat a good breakfast
  • Bring a bottle of water
  • Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers/garden boots that they don't mind getting dirty

The mission of ORLANDO CARES is to improve youth literacy and community safety in the City of Orlando by mobilizing caring citizens as volunteers to make service a part of the solution.

Description

Through ORLANDO CARES, we engage volunteers in 6 unique programs that help Central Florida youth improve their academic success, increase their literacy skills, plan viable career choices and avoid the juvenile justice system. ORLANDO CARES created volunteer opportunities that impact educational outcomes and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Orlando Cares volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer, fill out a City of Orlando volunteer application, and attend a one-hour training session to be scheduled with a Volunteer Coordinator.
