A sweet way to volunteer-Maple Syrup Day

Each year Chippewa Nature Center holds our annual Maple Syrup Day Event at the center. This year's date is Saturday, March 21. The event is open to the public with a small admission fee for non-members. Volunteers play a critical role in making event a success for the 1, 000 plus visitors that come to celebrate the maple syrup season. Visitors can enjoy a pancake meal (additional cost), Watch maple syrup being made for maple sap, do crafts and activities, and visit the log cabin and see a puppet play in the schoolhouse,

Volunteer opportunities include:

(for youth and adults) helping inside with the pancake meal (three shifts 8:00-11:00; 8:30 -11:30 or 11:15-3:00)

(for adults)

  • assisting with the outside admission gate (shifts are 9:15- 11:30 and 1:00-3:30)
  • help make maple taffy -outside in the timber frame barn-instructions provided (shift is 11:45-2:00)
  • in the kitchen: Fry Sausages from 11:00 am-2:45 pm or fill applesauce bowls from 11:00 am to 2:45 pm
