Each year Chippewa Nature Center holds our annual Maple Syrup Day Event at the center. This year's date is Saturday, March 21. The event is open to the public with a small admission fee for non-members. Volunteers play a critical role in making event a success for the 1, 000 plus visitors that come to celebrate the maple syrup season. Visitors can enjoy a pancake meal (additional cost), Watch maple syrup being made for maple sap, do crafts and activities, and visit the log cabin and see a puppet play in the schoolhouse,
Volunteer opportunities include:
(for youth and adults) helping inside with the pancake meal (three shifts 8:00-11:00; 8:30 -11:30 or 11:15-3:00)
(for adults)
- assisting with the outside admission gate (shifts are 9:15- 11:30 and 1:00-3:30)
- help make maple taffy -outside in the timber frame barn-instructions provided (shift is 11:45-2:00)
- in the kitchen: Fry Sausages from 11:00 am-2:45 pm or fill applesauce bowls from 11:00 am to 2:45 pm
