Newly planted trees need TLC to survive. Spend a couple hours to help make our Reforestation projects a success!
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, a Baltimore County based land trust and watershed restoration non-profit, is looking for volunteers to help with tree maintenance. Tree maintenance involves removing invasive plants, checking planted trees to see if the shelter needs to be removed and removing if necessary, digging out the planting tube, and making sure the plant is upright.
Trees are important. They emit oxygen, sequester carbon dioxide, absorb pollutants, prevent erosion and storm water runoff and provide animal habitat.
Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools

When: Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 12 pm - 3 pm . Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools.
What to bring: Dress in layers and wear closed-toed shoes (boots are best). Bring a hat, gloves, and a filled water bottle.
Directions: Loch Raven Reservoir area (near Dulaney Valley Road x Stone Hill Road). Please park on the grass on the west side of Dulaney Valley Road just south of Stone Hill Road. Look for a black Prius parked there and park behind it.You can turn around on the entrance road to Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Club if you need to. That address is 12301 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, MD 21131. You don’t need to go all the way to the Skeet and Trap Club, just turn around on the entrance road if you need to so you can park on the west side of Dulaney Valley Road.If you have questions on the day of the event, contact Kim Peabody at (410) 570-9850.

Description
Get your hands dirty for clean water! GVC needs volunteers like YOU to achieve our vision of healthy lands, healthy waterways, and healthy communities within the Gunpowder Watershed. We work with volunteers of all ages, as well as individuals, families, or groups. Our volunteer opportunities are eligible for community service learning hours.
Join us for a meaningful environmental stewardship activity such as tree planting, tree maintenance (removing invasive plants), or stream clean-up.
