Our volunteers are cancer survivors who provide one-on-one emotional support to people who are currently being treated for cancer. At the present time, because of the coronavirus pandemic, all contact with patients and caregivers is virtual (over the phone, text, email, video chat, etc.). Extensive training is provided via Zoom as we are unable to meet in person at this time.
We also support current cancer patients' loved ones that we refer to as caregivers. We have previous caregivers that have undergone extensive training to help walk with current caregivers as they supporr their loved one.
Volunteers are matched with patients who've been given the same cancer diagnosis that the volunteers overcame. As survivors themselves, CanCare volunteers have the unique ability to relate to and empathize with clients currently undergoing their treatment. Please, share some hope with someone who needs it!
