STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for one hour and fifteen minute long session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. Stair-Annapolis has 13 sites throughout Anne Arundel County and we place tutors at sites that are convenient to their home. We have plans to open a new site at Glen Burnie Park Elementary School, 500 Marlboro Rd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061. This site would meet on Monday and Thursdays from 2:30-3:45.
Please contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org for more information. We will offer a one hour information session on Thursday, July 31st from 1:30-2:30 at the Michael Busch Annapolis Library, 1410 West Street. This wil be an overview of the STAIR program. Please RSVP to learn more about our program. There will also be a required one-and a half hour curriculum training following the information session that will be scheduled at various dates beginning in August.
