STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for AACPS first and second graders reading below grade level. The STAIR Site Coordinator/Leader is instrumental to the success of our organization. We are currently in need of a Co-Site Leaders for the 2024/2025 school year. No experience necessary and we offer training! Site Leaders have the opportunity to work with each of the 6-10 children at their site. This is a great volunteer opportunity for retired teachers and reading specialists, as well as recently retired professionals. Site Leaders work in teams to ensure each STAIR site is a safe, welcoming, organized place for fun and learning. Site Coordinators are the leaders at their site and are provided training and all the necessary materials and support to lead a successful site. Site Leaders also assist with tutoring students as substitutes when the need arises, and are able to track and monitor the progress of all students at their site.
A one hour Information session will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 12-1:00, at the Annapolis Public Library on West Street. We will begin training New tutors in mid-August for our 2024/2025 semester that begins in late September/early October. Interested new tutors contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org for more information.
