Celebrate Earth Day with Get Outdoors Nevada, BLM, and REI on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-12pm at the Great Unconformity geological site.

We will be meeting at the top of E. Lake Mead Blvd just past Los Feliz Street, for an epic cleanup of this popular hiking spot. Join us for a free lunch after the cleanup!

Volunteers can look forward to beautifying and preserving this local geological gem by picking up trash around the trailhead. An Unconformity is a surface of rock that was exposed on the Earth’s surface and then covered by younger layers. This Unconformity represents missing intervals of the geologic record, like pages gone missing from a book. The Great Unconformity represents about 1.2 billion years, which is more than one fourth of the age of the Earth.

We will bring all the tools and supplies for the event. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, a wide brim hat, closed toe shoes, sun protection, and bring your reusable water bottle. In an effort to reduce waste, we will have a water refill station available for you to use.
