Arlington Heights Memorial Library provides court-mandated community service opportunities for individuals under age 18. Community service hours are completed through work in our Maintenance Department, performing routine indoor and outdoor building maintenance such as washing windows, setting up rooms for events, picking up trash, wiping down tables, dusting shelves, etc. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, and stand for periods of time. Each shift is 4 hours. Please note this opportunity is not for teens who are required to complete service hours for school.
An orientation meeting is required for court-mandated volunteers. During this 1-hour orientation meeting, we will go over the community service guidelines and create your shift schedule. Orientations are by appointment only and are scheduled Mondays through Thursdays during regular business hours. A parent or legal guardian is required to attend orientation with their teen.
Please note if your next court date is less than 6 weeks from when we receive your interest form, we may not be able to accommodate your request. When you contact us, please indicate how many hours you need to complete and when your next court date is.
