The SODO Community Market is a no-cost grocery that centers dignity, customer service and community building. We are presently in need of bilingual volunteers- Cantonese or Mandarin and English- to help out in the market. The majority of our shoppers are Cantonese or Mandarin speakers, and we believe that volunteers who speak these languages can help us create a more welcoming and equitable experience for these shoppers. Market volunteers help out with the following tasks: stocking shelves, bagging groceries, sorting donations and assisting shoppers.

We're in looking for volunteers for the following shifts:

  • Monday afternoon shift, 1:15pm-4:30pm
  • Monday evening shift, 4:15pm-7:30pm
  • Wednesday morning shift, 7:45am-11:00am
  • Wednesday midday shift, 10:45am-2:00pm
  • Friday morning shift, 7:45am-11:00am
  • Friday midday shift, 10:45am-2:00pm

Please note that we ask all SODO volunteers to attend an orientation with us prior to their first shift and this must be scheduled in advance. Orientations are on the first Thursday of the month, from 11:00am-12pm, and on the third Wednesday, 2:00pm-3:00pm.

If you'd like to volunteer with us, we'd love to have you join us!
