On Saturday & Sunday, February 29 th March 1 st, 7 th,8 th 2020, the Gold Coast Railroad Museum (a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located at 12450 SW 152 Street, Miami, FL 33177) will be hosting its "Day Out With Thomas." This event will begin at 9:00am and conclude at 5:00pm. As a result, the museum is soliciting student volunteers (to perform community service hours as a part of their graduation requirement) to assist with the below listed tasks during the event:

- Greet event guests
- Pass out flyer/maps
- Supervise bounce house and inflatable game
- Supervise various activities
- Supervise "Thomas" play area
- Assist passengers with train rides
- Grounds cleaning during and after the event

Volunteers must arrive at the museum by 8:00am to "sign-in" and subsequently receive assignments/duties and further instructions. At the conclusion of the event, volunteers are required to "sign-out."

The Gold Coast Railroad Museum will provide an opportunity for each volunteer to receive one lunch meal (free of charge) to volunteers assisting full day. However, volunteers may purchase (using their own funds) food from a variety of food vendors who will be present during the event.

NOTE: Water will be made available to the volunteers to assist in maintaining hydration.

The Gold Coast Railroad Museum, Inc., is primarily a museum of Florida's rail heritage. Since there are other museums in other locations that deal primarily with local and regional heritage, the Gold Coast Railroad Museum limits it's collections to those objects and equipment that pertain to Florida's railroad heritage or are of National, International, or Educational significance.

Description

The Gold Coast Railroad Museum has three primary goals: 1. Preservation and restoration of historic railroad objects and equipment; 2. Display to the general public of historic railroad equipment and objects in order to heighten knowledge, education, and awareness of that public of the important role that railroads have played in Florida's (and the Nation's) history; 3. Operation of historic railroad equipment pursuant to the goals stated in (2) above.
