NOTE: We are offering Online Orientation. We are currently looking for local volunteers that can jump into future face-to-face visits.
New Star serves over 650 children and adults each day whose lives are impacted by mild to profound disabilities. Our service area reaches those living in and around the Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana. New Star has openings for people who are passionate about helping those we serve to create meaningful days, productive years, and, ultimately, more fulfilling lives.
Become a New Star volunteer and help challenge limits and change lives by being you. Your skills, experience, and personality are bound to be a perfect fit.
Here are just a few ways you can make a difference:
Card writing
Zoom game events
Help build job skills (i.e., interview practice)
Online social visits that will transition to in-person
Administrative help
Gardening
Teach a class
Storytelling
Match your skills, interest, and experience with others.
We also have a Junior Ambassador Program for Teens 8th-12th grade.

Description
New Star is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit community organization dedicated to challenging the limits and changing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve more than 650 children and adults each year throughout the Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana.
We are a restless organization - driven by our passion to create new and innovative vocational, educational, therapeutic, and social opportunities for the amazing people we serve. From launching our new e-recycling facility, to creating a nationally-known advocacy program, to leading the way in innovative models of residential care, we continue to break down barriers and blaze new trails through our life-changing programs and services.
