March 4th, 2020

We’re looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Festival Associates to help with festival production, marketing, outreach and hosting for the 10th Annual Queens World Film Festival at the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios March 19th-29th.

If you see the value in gaining hands-on work experience and can contribute some six hours weekly to help our team in all facets of production beginning now, we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer Festival Associates at the Queens World Film Festival are vital to the success of our annual event held in New York's eclectic Astoria and Long Island City communities. Last year, our festival showed 200 films and drew more than 4,000 attendees. More than 200 films from around the world and around the corner are slated to show in 2020.

Among an array of production opportunities, you’ll help us create social media marketing campaigns, craft press releases, reach out to members of the entertainment industry, prep for special events, distribute promotional postcards and posters, conduct red carpet interviews, coordinate panel talks, and work with children filmmakers as part of our Filmmaker Mentor Assistant program.

In addition to gaining marketable experience at all levels of festival production, you’ll have opportunities to connect with film creatives, press, sponsors, elected officials and, of course, you’ll receive a spiffy festival tee-shirt, film tickets, and a letter of recommendation.

Interested? Come to orientation on March 9th.

We look forward to hearing from you. For more festival information, please visit our website: queensworldfilmfestival.com.

Mission Statement

In this year’s festival there are tender films, heartbreaking films, and several works that are extremely provocative, maybe even, disturbing. Taken as a whole, this year's selection ties us into conversations people are having around the world via the real stars of the festival: the films. It’s about surrendering to the films, without looking for familiar names, titles, scores. It’s about creating the right context for personal, intimate films grouped together for a cinematic experience you will not get anywhere else on the planet. The 6th Annual Queens World Film Festival (QWFF) returns to the Museum of the Moving Image, the Secret Theatre and PS 69 from March 15-20, 2016.

Description

Turning 6, QWFF is set to return to the Museum of the Moving Image and other venues across Queens March 15 - 20 2016. We anticipate screening between 80 and 100 films. It is important to QWFF that every screening is a worthwhile experience for participating filmmakers and our guests so we will continue many of our signature elements: dynamic thematic programming, hosted screening events with engaging talk-backs, relevant networking opportunities and maximum access to press. We will again screen narrative films, documentaries, LGBTQ and animated films and we will program both short and feature length films. However this year we are adding a new category: Family Films. We are excited to introduce families to independent and international cinema.
