EC Boston is a language school located in Faneuil Hall, with adult students who have traveled from all over the world to learn English in Boston. With EC Boston’s new Conversation Partner Program, an EC student is paired with a volunteer English speaker (you!). Partners meet anywhere in the city of Boston at least once a week to chat about interests, including hobbies, music, movies, culture, language and more.
Conversation Partners is a unique EC Boston program that is designed to heighten cultural experiences and exchanges of students and community members alike. A successful match allows students to expand their grasp of the English language beyond the classroom and to become fully immersed in their new surroundings and to have an authentic Boston experience!
Conversation partner Volunteer Requirements:
* Conversation Partner volunteers love Boston and are passionate about new cultures, languages and education.
* Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 hr/ week for at least 8 weeks, but we're flexible to your schedule.
* Volunteers must be aware and accepting of cultural differences.
* Volunteers must commit to speaking in English with their partner and must honor meeting times and locations (you are welcome to split time between speaking English and speaking your partner’s native language).
* If a volunteer misses 3 conversations or more, they will not be allowed to participate in the program.
* Volunteers will submit a short application form and agree to an interview with the Conversation Partners coordinator.
* Volunteers must agree to a background check.
This is a FREE program and we hope to start interviewing volunteers in February 2020.
