Volunteers needed to help enrich our guide dogs! Someone who loves to work with and care for larger dogs will be a perfect fit for the guide dog enrichment team. In this position, you may be asked to take the dogs out of their kennel and let them into one of the outdoor runs so they can exercise and get some fresh air. If there is space, we might ask that you take multiple dogs out at once so they can run and interact with each other. Another responsibility may be to help clean the dog runs outside, the kennels inside, and the building as needed. This ensures the dogs have a clean, healthy environment and so the building is ready for any visitors that come through. Helping groom the dogs by bathing and brushing them, as well as with any medical issues (soaking sore feet, etc.) keeps our dogs happy, healthy and ready for their day of training! The guide dog enrichment team may also be asked to work on calming techniques with the dogs by sitting with them in their kennels.

Qualifications include a willingness to share love and affection with larger dogs and being able to see, hear and understand animal behavior and body language.
