Greetings!
Companion Hospice is looking for companionship respite volunteers to spend time with patients for family member who experience "Caregiver Burnout". This position will be for volunteers to spend a maximum of an 8 hours day with a patient doing creative and helpful activities while caregiver is recuperating.
What is caregiver burnout?
Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion when one is caring for someone with acute, chronic or terminal illness. Caregiver symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, loss of concentration and change in eating habits.
This position will require the following:
-Training and orientation
-Negative TB Test
-Reliable transportation
-Cleared background check
-Must be at least 18 years of age
-Patience and understanding

We match volunteers to Hospices where they will excel the most. We offer training and orientation, continued education for all volunteers, certificates of completion and excellence. Whether volunteers are students trying to gain experience or if you just want to give back to the community. We hope that we find individuals who can successfully achieve their goals and provide helpful assistance to Hospice organizations within the Los Angeles County.
Description
Hospice volunteers provide companionship to people living with a serious illness and help their families caregivers in a variety of ways. Hospice also rely on volunteers to help with office work, fund raising, community outreach and other operational areas.
