Mission Statement

West Virginia Community Services for Women, Inc. is lovingly known in our community as WISE, which stands for Women in Search of Empowerment. Our mission is to work to promote the financial independence of disadvantaged women by giving them professional clothing, access to resources in a support network plus the tools to help develop the careers of women so they can grow in work and life.

Description

Founded in 2005, WISE has invested 15 years helping countless women help themselves and moved towards their goal of being financially independent women in our community and we are just getting started. We provide underprivileged women in Bluefield, Princeton, Welch, and Beckley, WV as well as Tazewell, Bland, Richlands, and Wytheville, VA with the resources they need to get up and move forward with their lives. We help them gain the proper training, secure appropriate clothing (including healthcare scrubs) and get them access to networking opportunities so they can open doors that fit their qualifications. We extend help to those who need it most to allow them better chances of moving forward, helping themselves as well as their loved ones once they get the opportunities they need to improve their quality of life. We also answer the call of our community by helping displaced, homeless, and those in transitional living situations.

Our program is funded by the generous support of our donors, various grants, and private funds. We're here to help women overcome barriers so they may fully participate in society and learn to be self-sufficient.
