Our AmeriCorps workforce development program needs you. Designed for driven and caring professionals who want to give back, the new Keith Haring Mentorship Program is seeking strong mentors to give their time and career guidance to young people entering college and the workforce. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young New Yorker who needs a helping hand breaking into the workforce.
Time Commitment: 3 hours a month (M-F between 8am to 6pm and/or Saturday & Sunday, 9am to 1pm)
Length of Service Required: 12 months
Once matched, for a period of 12 months, mentors and mentees will then:
- Engage over the 12-month period for a minimum of three hours a month.
- Required engagements will include mentors attending an Orientation, Speed Mentoring, and Mock Interview sessions.
- Engage with mentees to gain a clear sense of their career goals.
- Check-in at least monthly with their mentees (via video chat or phone call).
- Provide ongoing career advice and networking opportunities.
- Help identify potential job opportunities, education opportunities, find and connect mentees to internships, offer shadowing opportunities and workplace visits, arrange informational interviews.
This mentorship program is generously supported by a grant from the Keith Haring Foundation.
