Mission Statement
Our food bank not only works to stop hunger, it also works to improve the nutritional quality of food low-income residents consume.
Description
UCAN operates a food bank in Douglas County. The food bank does not provide food directly to residents. It instead collects, stores and distributes food to Douglas County's network of kitchens and pantries. Residents can eat meals at local kitchens, and obtain food boxes at local pantries. Our food bank not only works to stop hunger, it also works to improve the nutritional quality of food low-income residents consume.
Our Douglas County Food Bank features a modern warehouse and distribution center. The center features solar energy panels on the roof, which provide much of the food bank's energy. Staff work to increase the amount of fresh food made available to our residents by working with farmers, grocery stores and local partners to obtain vegetables and fruit, meat and dairy products. Our Douglas County Food Bank provides food to many food pantries found countywide, including in Roseburg, Sutherlin, Yoncalla, Drain, Reedsport, Glide, Dillard, Myrtle Creek, Riddle, Canyonville and Glendale. We serve six community kitchens with locations in Roseburg, Sutherlin, Drain and Reedsport.
