Mission Statement

SheRises, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization located in the DC metro region. Dedicated to helping Reach, Inspire, Strengthen, and Empower teen mothers and pregnant teens within our communities, our organization provides a supportive and encouraging environment for teen mothers and their children to RISE above and overcome challenges. Through individual mentoring and counseling, educational assistance, college and career planning, classes for various life skills such as financial literacy and stress management (and much more!), the young mothers in our program will learn the practical and emotional skills it takes to be healthy, self-sufficient, financially smart, thriving members of society.

Description

We are passionate about this organization and about the young women we help because many of us within the organization were once teen mothers ourselves. Having already been through the typical challenges and made it out on the other side, we have the experience, empathy, and compassion for the situation our program participants have been in. Some of our personal stories even involve homelessness and domestic abuse, so we are well versed personally and professionally on these matters, in addition to motherhood as a whole. We care, and we are here to give non-judgmental, practical, and compassionate support to the young mothers of our community. Additionally, by helping these teens and their children, we are ultimately helping the entire community as we attempt to end the cycle of impoverished teen parents.
