Alive and Well Communities’ activates communities to heal in four ways: Elevate community wisdom by centering those who have experienced trauma; Disrupt systemic oppression and responding to the impact of historical trauma; Act with urgency; and Lead innovative solutions based on the science of trauma, toxic stress, and resiliency The Alive and Well Ambassador program engages volunteers to increase community resilience and to decrease the impact of trauma and toxic stress by promoting healing, wellbeing, and equity. The Ambassador Engagement VISTA will increase volunteer engagement; build tools to improve communication and impact measurements; develop and facilitate work groups and learning collaboratives; and expand the Ambassador program.
The Ambassador Engagement Lead will spend a majority of their time on recruitment, building community partnerships, group facilitation, and program/event hosting. Activities will include providing insights around how Alive and Well Communities can support communities and organizations through training and various levels of technical assistance to advance through awareness to change policies and practices, using the Missouri Model of trauma-informed care. This role will further strive to connect communities and residents with one another to develop a shared vision for a response to community trauma. The Lead will also support in development and facilitation of work groups and learning collaboratives to foster sustainable change in various communities and sectors, in advocating for change in institutional practices and policies to prevent trauma and promote healing.
