A growing number of studies are finding that yoga can benefit youth who have experienced trauma. Yoga and mindfulness-based yoga classes support healing, resilience, self-development and positive social change in youth.
We have offered yoga on a weekly basis to our adolescent clients for the last several years and now find ourselves without a yoga instructor. We would like to continue to offer this service to our youth and we are looking for someone willing to lead our clients in a yoga class one time per week at our location. We can be somewhat flexible on the day of week and the hour, but would like someone (or 2 people who can alternate) to offer the class one time per week on a consistent basis.
This volunteer should be a certified yoga instructor or working towards their teaching certification.

Description
The Girls' Outreach Program opened in 1985 and operates under the auspices of the Arlington Juvenile Court. The program is an after-school reporting program for girls ages 13-17 and provides a structured and supervised environment during the high risk hours after school. Girls' Outreach provides its clients a nurturing and supportive environment where they can work through the difficulties they experience and gain the skills they need in order to make positive changes towards a brighter future.
