You're invited to give back to Mordecai Mini Park! Volunteers are needed to assist with mulching to help beautify the area around the park.

Impact:
Mulching plays an important role in well landscaped areas as it controls weed growth, provides moisture for plants, and an overall positive aesthetic look to the park.

Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will spread mulch around the landscaped areas. Volunteers will work in teams to help fill wheelbarrows, run wheelbarrows and dump mulch in identified landscape beds, and rake mulch.

Work Environment:
This project will be outside so we recommend dressing for the weather. There is a possibility of uneven ground. There is not a restroom on site.

Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer. All volunteers will need to sign a release form. Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to have a parent/guardian signature.

Special Details:
Tools, gloves, water, snacks, first-aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen will be provided. Volunteers must wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes like hiking/work boots or sneakers.

Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If interested in registering a group, please email rachel.vannnoordt@raleighnc.gov . We require a list of names and their email addresses to hold spots for groups.

Per department policy this event cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
