The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for attending local events related to educating and promoting Thea’s Star of Hope.


Prior experience with public relations and a passion for public relations is required.


The volunteer would work under the direction of the Co-chairs of the Board.


Thea’s Star of Hope brings Hope to every family touched by pediatric brain tumors. The purpose is to improve treatments and provide support for families of kids with brain tumors so that they can live and not just survive. They support research for improved therapies with fewer side effects and efforts to make treatments more tolerable. They also provide resources for families undergoing treatment or dealing with the long term effects resulting from treatments.


WHEN

Various times based upon the event. Must be available some evenings and weekends.

WHERE

Local travel to attend the event(s) is required. Most of the events are held in the Central New Jersey area - Mercer and Monmouth Counties.

To support endeavors to research better treatment options for children with brain tumors, focusing on Pediatric Low Grade Gliomas.

To raise awareness of pediatric brain tumors and the long term effects of the diseases, as well as treatments.

To help improve the quality of life of families of children in treatment for pediatric brain tumors.
