L.A.C.E.S. is excited to get our Spring Programing underway and we are seeking Volunteers and Coaches for L.A.C.E.S. spring soccer team! The spring soccer team offers a unique opportunity for volunteers and coaches to provide one-on-one mentoring for 9 weeks to recently arrived refugee youth who are eager to play and learn new soccer skills. During weekly soccer practices you will have the chance to be a part of the growth of the team and players as they master new skills and build their confidence!

Our Soccer League practices will run from February 22nd, 2020 to April 18th, 2020 and this year's team will have 12 players, boys and girls, ages 11-14. Practices will be held indoors once a week on Saturdays from 10 - 11 am at nearby community centers and there will be two Saturday games during the season. Practice player pick-up will be at 9:30 am and game day pick-up times are TBD. If you cannot make it to every Saturday, that is OK, we are more than happy to work with your schedule, just let us know!

Coaches Responsibilities:

- Plan and Supervise practices and players

- Ensure all players have a safe space to play and develop their skills

- Drive players to and from practices and games

Volunteers Responsibilities:

Mission Statement

Raise up positive role models in the world through the avenue of sports. Our mission is to develop mentor driven sports leagues for children in need of healing.

Description

We work to create a sustainable, replicable model of community development using sports as a tool to reach at-risk youth and empower their local communities. Our work is focused on promoting:

Local leadership: We believe that each community know the best way to address the social issues that our children face. Through ongoing training, we empower locals to create their own change.

Community Engagemen: L.A.C.E.S. partners with the community to identify the most vulnerable children. All the coaches must live in the communities where they operate. Their engagement has resulted in families fostering children who live on the street, schools providing scholarships to children cannot afford it and the creation of platforms to address social issues such as Ebola.

Family Support: Our coaches meet with the children’s parents individually, as to partner together to make the greatest impact

In Liberia L.A.C.E.S. has been working with 890 children, 180 coaches, 20 Liberian staff and 5 communities.

In The US: Summer of 2016 L.A.C.E.S. will be hosting a Refugee Youth Soccer Camp in the greater Washington D.C. area, for 45 refugee youth ages 9-14. L.A.C.E.S. will expand it's program activitiy in the fall of 2016.
