ORGANIZATION: American Space Museum / Space Walk of Fame Foundation

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 19 people are interested

Our special events mostly occur on Saturdays. We have openings for people to help with photography, videography, crowd directional support, paperwork, kids' activity helpers, tour guides (if you have a background in the space industry or would like to come beforehand to learn), set up, clean up and more. People with good attitudes that like to work in teams welcome - especially friendly, smiling individuals! PLEASE DO NOTE REGARDING COVID-19: Special events are currently postponed until safe to resume, however we ARE still taking volunteers to be available when things are safe to begin again. We ARE at least open again and DO require safety protocols to be in place for everyone entering the building. Limited tour capacities and appointments are in place, masks and temperature screenings, and cleanings between tours as well as extensive cleanings after the last tour are all required. COVID protocols will remain in place throughout the pandemic and until it is fully safe to discontinue them. The safety of our staff, volunteers and guests is of the utmost priority.

About American Space Museum / Space Walk of Fame Foundation

Location:

308 PINE ST, TITUSVILLE, FL 32796, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is two-fold, as our tagline indicates: "Preserving Achievement; Inspiring Innovation." First, we honor those who built the American space program by preserving their artifacts, history and individual stories. Second, we use those stories and artifacts as an educational springboard toward inspiring a new generation to innovate, invent, explore and discover.

Description

We have a 6,000 sq ft facility in downtown Titusville, dedicated to honoring America's space pioneers and displaying their artifacts and achievements. We also offer STEAM Space, a dynamic education program that features monthly programming for kids, a variety of camps, activities and a Makerspace. We are also building a one-of-a-kind SALT program, focusing on Strategic thinking, Administration, Leadership and Teamwork.

Our museum is open 6 days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a suggested donation of $10 per adult, $8 for military and seniors, $5 for students 13-18 and FREE for students under 12. Our near-by Space Walk of Fame monuments are available for viewing year-round. We offer docents who worked in the space program and can tell the story of our space history from a personal perspective. We also offer a hands-on experience where visitors can interact with some (not all) of our artifacts...including a mission control console that was used during the Apollo and Shuttle programs, and a NASA program desk from 1964, which offers visitors the chance to dial an old rotary phone and type on a NASA typewriter from the era.
