Compassionate Companion : No One Dies Alone is a national program that seeks to provide Compassionate Companion volunteers to people who are all alone in the hospital, and are expected to pass away with no friends or family present. Volunteers in this program are trained by clinical staff, shadow hospital Chaplains and other NODA Volunteers for experience. They are included on a "phone-tree" of available Compassionate Companions who will sit Vigil with someone who is in the process of passing alone. This volunteer opportunity is not for everyone- but is definitely a calling for some special people. The impact you make on the patients as well as the staff is immeasurable. Flexible volunteering opportunity, as you choose the hours and days that you are available for this service.

Mission Statement
Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary supports Meritus Health through various services and fundraisers to improve the health status of our region by providing comprehensive health services to patients and families.
Description
Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary( MMCA) offers many wonderful opportunities to give back to the most vulnerable in your community, meet new friends, and stay engaged with current events. With close to 400 Auxilians, MMCA has been serving alongside Washington County Hospital and now Meritus Heath for more than 60 years. Areas where our volunteers serve include the Information Desk, Emergency Room, Nursery, Thrift Store, Gift Shop, and Surgical Center. The Auxiliary also spends time each year with fundraising for various causes, such as scholarships for students entering the medical field, procuring medical equipment ans supplies for the hospital's pediatric department, cancer center and all patients that the hospital serves. The Auxiliary has given countless hours and funds to the local community, all in the noble cause of dedicating itself to supporting the Hospital's mission and vision of improving the lives of our community members.

- Must be at least 18
- 8 Hours Facilitators training, 8 hours shadowing with Chaplains.
- All Volunteers at Meritus hospital join the Meritus Auxiliary. They also complete orientation and training on Hospital Safety, HIPAA, Confidentiality, require some medical documentation and PPD testing, flu shot in season, attend annual educations.
