Read to Low-Income Kids to Improve Literacy Skills (Traveling Stories)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Project Helping

  • 6 people are interested

WHAT WE WILL DO:

Join Project Helping volunteers to read one-on-one with children. StoryTents hosted by Traveling Stories are where kids come to discover and develop their love for reading. Kids receive one-on-one reading support from volunteers in order to improve their literacy skills. Traveling Stories has a mission to empower kids to outsmart poverty by helping them fall in love with reading. In other words, make reading fun!

Traveling Stories believes that reading impacts a child's future. Avid readers are more likely to graduate high school and stay out of jail. Eager readers take part in their community. Readers tend to love the arts. Perhaps most important, readers learn compassion for their community and world.
