We are looking for people THROUGHOUT OUR 17 COUNTIES in Iowa who are willing to be "on-call" on the weekends, responding to crisis calls and dispatching staff. A volunteer would be on call from 4:30 on Friday afternoon until Monday morning at 8:00 am, for one weekend a month, or more if desired. If this interests you - if you want that experience of working with real people face to face - and if you want to help give our regular advocates the break they need to stay healthy in this work, let me know!! We would LOVE to talk to you about this!! This opportunity requires completing the 20 hour online Victim Counselor training.

Description
Family Crisis Centers has been serving our area for more than 35 years. Our dedicated staff provide FREE and confidential service for so many victims and survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, homicide and other violent crimes. They create safety plans and file protection orders. They attend court hearings and medical appointments. They attend vigils, funerals, and trials for grieving families of homicide victims. They answer calls 24/7, ensuring every victim and survivor of crime has someone to talk to. They explore options for moving forward, so each person can make informed decisions based on their own needs and desires. We do this and so much more because we believe everyone deserves to live a life free from violence.
