NWSE Area Coordinators are often well connected in their communities and love working with youth, enjoy reaching out to others, and believe in the value of international understanding and friendship. Even a single international exchange student greatly impacts your local high school and community! Experience your local community through a new lens! Area Coordinators provide local supervision, maintain regular contact with students and host families, and offer support when needed. You will be the first local point of contact, conduct orientations for students and host families, Help us locate volunteer host families, secure school placements in your community, and help support the next generation of youth.

Mission Statement

NWSE believes international exchanges maximize intercultural understanding and motivate participants, including host families, to familiarize themselves with different cultures, thereby broadening their horizons and contributing to increased international respect and cooperation. Furthermore, by developing their intercultural understanding and ability to solve problems in a global context, student participants gain invaluable skills as they enter the world job market.

Description

NWSE places international high school students with host families and high schools in the United States for periods of one semester or one academic year. NWSE offers similar programs to US students who want to student abroad. NWSE works through area representatives (called Academic Coordinators), who recruit hosts and schools and monitor programs throughout the students' exchanges.
