Administer individual standardized tests to assess the English speaking and listening skills of Literacy clients at People's Resource Center. Testing will take place in the spring and fall, and a two year commitment is required.
What would make you a good fit for this opportunity?
- You are able to attend a one-day offsite certification training ( required ) on 2/4, 9am-4pm, in Arlington Heights
- You are fluent in English
- You enjoy talking with people from a variety of backgrounds
- You approach assessment as a positive process that is helpful to clients
- You are able to listen and evaluate spoken English (based on training provided)
- You are able to use a laptop to navigate the test
- You are available to volunteer within these parameters:
- Approximately 12 hours each spring and 12 hours each fall for 2 years
- Typically, the testing season lasts 3-4 consecutive weeks and volunteers help with a morning, afternoon, or evening each week.
- You have transportation to visit various PRC Partner Sites throughout DuPage County

Description
Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. With a team of over 1,500 volunteers, we offer nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times. And we connect people with resources--education and tutoring, jobs, technology, art, a caring community--to create a future of hope and opportunity for all.
Volunteer at PRC: Help in the food pantry or clothes closet, become a tutor, teach a class, organize a food drive, make a difference to a neighbor in need.
