About Us:
BEST is a non-profit education and training program for hospitality workers and for those seeking employment in the hospitality industry in Boston. We receive grant funding to prepare individuals for quality hospitality jobs. Our mission is to provide our students with the skills and training to excel in the hospitality industry and in their personal lives.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
BEST Hospitality Training is looking for a 2020 summer intern for at least 25 hours/week in our job seeker program. We are excited to welcome a passionate and dedicated individual to intern with the career coaching team during the summer of 2020. The intern’s duties and projects will be designed in collaboration between the intern and their supervisor, and will depend on the individual’s interests, skills, and experience. The intern will write resumes, teach students how to submit online applications, practice interviewing with them, and assist the career coaching team with administrative and Salesforce data management.
Our previous summer intern served as a career coach for one of our students, developing, and executing a successful job search strategy for him. They also developed an archiving system for the team.
Experience that is helpful:
- Background in a hotel or restaurant
- Resume writing experience
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Knowledge of Excel and Word
- Database skills
- Proficiency in a second language
Compensation:
This position is not paid, however BEST is happy to support the proposal of any applicant for funding through their college or university. In addition, BEST offers valuable experience in workforce development, working with non-profits, networking, and much more.

Description
BEST Hospitality Training is the education provider for members of the Local 26 hotel workers union. We offer English, GED, Citizenship, and Computer classes, as well as Food Server, Room Attendant, and Culinary Training. Our students come from all over the world. We are proud of the warm, inviting atmosphere we have created here, and look forward to having more volunteers become a part of it.
