Assist & visit individuals living at local shelter - Ann Arbor

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is looking for volunteers to assist at a shelter in Ann Arbor.

Volunteers can offer social visits to clients during lunch or dinner and sit with clients to eat, chat, and listen to stories. Others come to play board games, have coffee, play cards, go on a walk, etc. during times where there is no structured programming. Volunteers can bring portable instruments such as guitar or keyboards and perform for clients as well during these times.

Volunteers can also work with social worker staff to create roles to assist them in their casework and resource advocate duties.

Additionally, volunteers can also offer to lead programs with their skill or hobbies such as book clubs, smoking cessation support groups, etc.

LOCATION:
Ann Arbor near East Huron St and 1st Ave.

TIME:
Your first visit must take place between Monday-Friday 9am-430pm when you will meet volunteer staff. Any visits after the first initial visit can take place at any time or day. Visit for 1 hour once/week.
