Rekindle your elementary school love of field trips! Learn and teach about local history and art.
The Field Trip Specialist supports elementary school field trips to the Five Oaks Museum through supporting activity facilitation, preparing field trip materials, and leading tours of the PCC Rock Creek campus. In the 2019-20 school year, the museum offers two field trip topics: This IS Kalapuyan Land, which offers Native perspectives on the Kalapuyan peoples and contemporary Native culture in Portland; and Tualatin Valley: Recognizing Community Changes, which guides students through an overview of local history and how life has changed through the years. Our approach is based on open-ended questioning and encouraging critical thinking through object and art analysis. With your support, all students can have a thought-provoking and fun-filled field trip to the museum.

Description
Washington County Museum is now Five Oaks Museum. Under our new name, we remain committed to sharing important stories and creating learning experiences for all.
Since our founding in 1956 as the Washington County Historical Society, we’ve worked to preserve the artifacts and narratives that define the Tualatin Valley’s unique place in the world. By collaborating with others to explore how art, culture and history shape the past and influence the future, we help visitors connect to a collective local history made up of community voices and the important stories they tell.
Five Oaks Museum is a gathering place of vibrant art, culture and storytelling - a resource for all who are curious about the world around us. It’s a place for everything from learning and self-reflection to the sheer joy of making art or enjoying cultural traditions together. Here, everyone is part of the story.
