Code Your Dreams provides after school programming for K-12 students to build mobile applications that solve community problems. This specific program is middle school and runs weekly on Wednesday's.

Students start with discussions about their communities: what makes them great and beautiful, but also what everyday problems exist. Students brainstorm apps they can build that solve these problems. Students are taught how to code these apps, and finally how to present them.

As a Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Volunteer circulates through classroom to monitor learner progress during activities.
  • Volunteer may help with a variety of tasks and needs of the teacher.
  • Volunteer may work with a small group of learners on either tasks being completed that day in class, or areas in which the learners needs extra attention.
  • Review previous lesson plan with learner who was absent or who needs additional work on topic.

Description

Code Your Dreams is a non-profit coding and design bootcamp for K-12 students. Our students learn computer science and design thinking while solving a problem they experience in their communities. Students work with computer science and design professionals to ideate, design, program and market a mobile or web application that addresses a critical problem that students identify in their communities. At the end of the program, students leave with a fully functioning application and the skills and knowledge to continue using technology to solve the problems that they see.
