Summary
Volunteers are the life blood of our work at Mutts of the Midway. As such, the roles of the Volunteer Coordinator are primarily focused around promoting the rescue and obtaining new volunteers as well as assisting and maintaining current volunteers.
Responsibilities/Commitments
The Volunteer Coordinator works directly with the President, Foster Coordinator, and Fundraising Committee Chair. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following types of activities:
- Plans, directs, oversees and coordinates the volunteer program
- Recruits and interviews volunteer applicants thoroughly.
- Determines which function each volunteer is best suited for; schedules volunteers to ensure maximum job satisfaction and fulfillment.
- Explores ways to recruit new volunteers through community outreach and public relations programs.
- Plans, directs and organizes orientation for new volunteers; including onboarding to the mission of Mutts
- Solicit feedback from volunteers regarding job satisfaction.
- Works with Event Leads to ensure events are adequately staffed.
- Assist Medical Coordinators in arranging transport
- Maintains the volunteer database and volunteer hours
- Works with the Foster Coordinator to create/manage an incentive system and plan the Volunteer Appreciation Party
- Passion: commitment to the dogs and the mission we serve
- Positive: always speak in a positive light and without judgement about rescue, Mutts, and dogs
- Proactive: engage volunteers frequently, ensure positive ongoing relationships
- Flexible: be able to work and respond to real-time requests when possible, commit to Mutts for 10 hours/week, with flexibility for more time when needed (events, Volunteer Appreciation party, etc)
- Organized: keep accurate records of database and hours worked

Mutts of the Midway is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization formed by passionate "dog-people" in May 2018. We are looking to expand our volunteer and foster base as we continue to grow!
