Program Overview:
The Harbor Light Center is a safe place for people to stabilize their lives and begin the process of healing. We offer a wide range of basic needs and rehabilitation services to anyone in need, without discrimination. Our shelter is Minnesota’s largest homeless adult outreach facility and includes resources and case management to assist with self-sufficiency and independence.
Description of Position:
Work directly with housekeeping staff to assist with regular cleaning of residential and administrative areas of Harbor Light Center.
Specific Duties:
- Clean floors and pick up any garbage
- Remove garbage from garbage cans
- Spot cleaning, as needed
- Wipe down sleeping mats
- Clean bathroom areas
- Use appropriate non-toxic chemicals properly
- Laundry (folding only)
Qualifications Sought:
- Able to stand for more than two hours
- Capable of using cleaning products appropriately
- Positive attitude
- Flexible and able to work in a variety of areas
- Ability to take direction from staff
- Willingness to adhere to policies and practices of The Salvation Army
Requirements:
- 18 years old or older preferred; minors 12-17 years old must be accompanied and supervised by an adult
- You must wear long pants
- No open toed shoes
- No offensive logos on clothing

Description
The Salvation Army offers social services and recreational programs with the goal of addressing specific physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each family, individual, child/youth, or elderly person. Services provided include, but not limited to: emergency food shelves, school supply programs, rental/utility assistance, educational programs, outreach to the homeless, family and youth camping, community center programs, Christmas assistance programs, nursing home visitations, corrections programs, and disaster services.
