Field Study guides share nature with young scientists in the Boston Public Schools. Our field studies are tailored to the early and upper elementary grades and the life science study taking place in the classrooms. Field Study Guides come from a range of backgrounds, but they have these four things in common:
1. They want to share nature with children.
2. They are life-long learners themselves.
3. They enjoy developing their skills as teacher-naturalists.
4. They are committed to an anti-racist understanding of science education.
Prior to COVID-19, we ran outdoor programs take place in the fall and spring. For the foreseeable future our interaction with students will be through distance learning. We will use this time to build our knowledge of the Arboretum landscape and the skills needed for working with young children remotely. We welcome people from all walks of life who have had some experience teaching children.
Recruitment is ongoing. Please reach out to the Manager of Children's Education for more information.
