Athletes Unite Against Adversity (AUAA) uses athletics as a platform to build resiliency, inspire, provide resources and create opportunity to underprivileged youth.

Like the rest of the world we had to pivot and are running our sessions virtually. For the elementary age youth, we are focusing on fitness and relating it to the various sports we ran during our in-person groups.

We are looking for volunteers to help run these sessions and hopefully get their feet wet with the organization to be prepared for when we go back to running the sessions in person.

Coaching is twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30-6:30pm through Zoom. The spring session starts 16 March and will run for 8 weeks. If you can only commit to one day a week or intermittently, please still reach out!

Mission Statement

Athletes Unite Against Adversity (AUAA) uses athletics as a platform to build resiliency, inspire, provide resources and create opportunities for underprivileged youth.

Description

AUAA works with 2 different age groups.

Our League is for elementary aged youth. Our goal is to provide free, quality sports leagues to underprivileged youth that are unable to afford other leagues in the area. We would love the opportunity to give them a positive initial sports experience to allow them to fall in love with the game and understand key concepts such as teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, etc.

The second component is for high school students or our "junior coaches." Our goal is to provide high school athletes with the opportunity to secure their first job. These athletes will be considered junior coaches who will be paired with head coaches to help mentor them throughout the program. Additionally, we will bring in different professionals to conduct mandatory seminars that the junior coaches will need to go through throughout the program to learn various life skills and become aware of potential career paths to pursue in the future.
