Our job is to show the world what the San Diego startup community has to offer - we educate, we innovate, and we inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. We market to our community in an organic, grassroots fashion, leveraging our networks to spread the word about our mission. Role

As the Director of Community, you will be responsible for overseeing all activities within the Community department, leveraging your knowledge and experience to activate community partners and engage them with our organization. The Director is both a manager and execution specialist, and it is expected that you are capable of completing all Community tasks with a high degree of proficiency. You are directly supported by the Executive Director and fellow Directors of Programs, and Operations. The Community Director manages and works closely with additional active Community Department organizers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structure, strategy and process for community partner program in accordance with event timelines.
  • Create and manage timelines for cross-organizational partnerships that further the mission of the organization.
  • Qualify leads to community and ecosystem organizations.
  • Establish and expand relationships with key members of the ecosystem via phone, email, and in person meetings.
  • Develop and manage a communications pipeline between Programs and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that key deliverables are provided to partners in a timely manner.
  • Represent Startup San Diego at ecosystem events to enhance our connection to the entrepreneurial community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in creating and managing sales processes and accounts.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Hubspot or another modern CRM.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Qualities

  • Experience with event planning.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people-management skills.
  • Experience with community building, ideally in the startup space.
  • Project management experience.
  • A "no-ego" doer, collaborative
  • Anchored in supporting and growing the Community
