We are looking for several people to help us plan a few fundraisers throughout the year. We have two major fundraisers 1 spring and 1 fall and a few small community events (Easter, Halloween and possibly something around Christmas).

The community events will be planned for kids with dietary restrictions so they will be non-food items. Shouldn't every child be able to participate in childhood events?

You don't have to have event planning or fundraising experience just a willingness to want to help.

Mission Statement

Provide special dietary food and fresh produce to low-income individuals in the Montgomery County area To be a key player in the distribution and education of dietary needs of lower income individuals

Description

We currently distribute fresh produce and special dietary foods to more than a dozen pantries. We get regular donations from manufacturers of special dietary foods. We also have opportunities for groups, organizations or individuals can get a list of foods we need and do a collection for us. Last year we distributed over 30,000 pounds of fresh produce to our pantry partners and low-income senior housing and senior centers that provide a free or reduced lunch for seniors during the week.

We have a partnership with a wholesale produce distributor and several farms. They call us when they have extra produce. We pick it up and distribute it. We are on track to double the amount we did last year.

We also have a gardening program where we teach low-income families how to grow their own organic produce. We give them a place to grow, plants, and seeds. Everything they grow is extra food for the families to keep. This year we have 15 families participating with 20 plots planted!
