Project Description:
This opportunity is ideal for those interested in non-profit administrative and workplace operations, communications, customer service, data management, leadership opportunities, and those interested in gaining experience in the non-profit sector in general.
The Boutique Administrative Assistant Volunteer will provide support to the Branch Manager in assisting with the overall administrative workflow in order to increase efficiencies in the Dress for Success Worldwide - West boutique. Consistency in administrative operations will lead to an increase in clients receiving services and agency partnerships.
Activities:

  • Assist the Branch Manager in managing administrative aspects of the boutique relating to clients; including booking and confirming appointments, calendaring appointments, completing related paperwork and data entry

  • Answer main phone line; assisting with answering questions and taking messages

  • Work with Branch Manager to keep client calendar up to date and current

  • Assist Branch Manager in maintaining a clean and safe work environment for staff, clients and volunteers

  • Work with Branch Manager to create procedure checklists to follow for managing boutique administrative needs on a daily and weekly basis

  • Take inventory of items on boutique floor and determine what needs to be restocked (e.g. clothing, shoes, purses, accessories and make-up)

  • Organize and track items received that are not appropriate for the boutique or Closet Sale and need to be donated

  • Help prepare for Closet Sales as needed
  • ​Other duties as assigned

  • Have a professional attitude and a friendly, positive approach

  • Have an interest in learning about the barriers that women face to joining and thriving in the work

    place, as well as ways to overcome those barriers

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills

  • Proficient in basic computer and Internet skills; ability to use and navigate Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel

  • Confidence in learning new online platforms

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for various events (rare)

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • A problem-solver and self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a team oriented environment


Site: Dress for Success Worldwide - West office
Supervision: Frequent contact with the Branch Manager to monitor progress on individual projects as they. The Branch Manager will provide direct supervision and instruction to the intern during his/her internship stay with Dress for Success Worldwide - West. The Branch Manager will assign tasks, monitor progress, and track completion of projects. The Branch Manager will be responsible for signing off on all documents required by the intern’s program.

  • Providing educational and enrichment activities for over 65,000 disadvantaged youth;
  • Revitalizing schools, parks, and community centers for more than 200,000 volunteer hours;
  • Offering companionship to seniors and friendship to abused and homeless women for more than 20,000 volunteer hours;
  • Conserving, cleaning, and restoring urban and natural environments in and around Los Angeles for more than 75,000 volunteer hours;
