Elmwood Park Zoo Martin Luther King Volunteering Event!
Join us from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Monday, January 20th as we partner with Montgomery County SPCA in celebrating Martin Luther King Day with a day of service. Guests can join staff members and volunteers in making toys for some of the zoo’s animals, as well as for the dogs at the SPCA. A therapy dog from the SPCA will be at the zoo to join the fun...and perhaps test some of the handmade toys! The zoo will provide old t-shirts for the toys, but guests are also encouraged to bring their own.
Volunteers of ALL AGES WELCOME!
To participate, volunteers must purchase zoo admission!
Zoo admission will be discounted to $5.00 for the entire day. A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the Montgomery County SPCA.
*This event is free with zoo admission
We are also partnering with Glad Dogs Nation for a stuffed animal donation drive. Glad Dogs Nation repurposes stuffed animals into dog toys. In an effort to tackle the issue of pet overpopulation, GDN donates 100% of their profits to animal causes.

Description
Elmwood Park Zoo was established in 1924 when a local farmer transferred 16 acres and a small menagerie to the Borough of Norristown. Today, the Zoo is owned and operated by the Norristown Zoological Society, a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster an appreciation of wildlife and their habitat that will inspire active participation in conservation. Under the Society’s careful management, Elmwood Park Zoo has attained the elite status as one of only 225 institutions accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
