ORGANIZATION: Bethlehem Area Public Library- South Side Branch

The Homebound Volunteer is responsible for picking up books from Bethlehem Area Public Library- South Side Branch at 12:00pm on Thursdays and driving them to library patrons that are unable to leave their house due to medical reasons. There is an average amount of 5-10 stops, all within the city of Bethlehem, PA, and surrounding communities. The volunteer can choose the order in which they deliver the items. Homebound Volunteers must be able to:

  • Deliver and pick up materials to patrons between 12:00pm and 3:00pm once a month on Thursday
  • Have a reliable car to transport materials to patrons
  • Be able to lift 20 pounds
  • Be able to follow directions to residences and follow delivery instructions
  • Be consistently prepared to deliver the same time and day each month
The volunteer is typically only expected to work only the 5th Thursday of the month, but will also be called upon if another volunteer is unable to deliver on their assigned Thursday.

Bethlehem Area Public Library-South Side Branch works with volunteers regularly with help for book sales, library floor organization, event help, and Homebound delivery.
